Understanding the Investment Thesis Tracker

An Investment Thesis is your own research record for a company: what you believe, why, what evidence supports it, and what would cause you to reconsider. You write every part of it. The platform never generates, judges, or scores a thesis.

Use it to keep a structured, durable record of your own research reasoning for a company, so you can revisit it later against what has actually changed.

1. Open a company's Research page.
2. Scroll to Investment Thesis.
3. Create a thesis with a title and statement -- supporting reasons, risks, invalidation conditions, and evidence links can be added now or later.
4. Use Mark reviewed when you've reconsidered your thesis, or Edit to update it -- saving an edit also counts as a review.
5. See every active thesis at once, across all companies, from My Research's Investment Theses section.

Who writes it? You do -- entirely. Does the platform determine whether it is correct? No. Nothing here judges, scores, or validates your thesis. What does "new information since review" mean? An objective, date-based comparison between when you last reviewed your thesis and the most recent research change for that company -- never a statement about whether your thesis still holds. What do the different statuses mean (Not yet reviewed / No new tracked information / New information since your last thesis review / Coverage limited)? These describe only the recency of your research review against tracked data, never whether your investment view is right or wrong -- there is no valid/invalid, strong/weak, or confirmed/broken judgment anywhere in this feature. "Coverage limited" means this platform doesn't yet have enough tracked data for that company to compare against, not that anything is wrong with your thesis. Does the platform change my thesis automatically? No -- only you can change what you wrote, and saving without a real change never advances your last-reviewed date. What does Mark Reviewed do? It records that you looked at your thesis again given current information -- nothing about what you concluded. Are thesis and Watchlist the same? No -- you can watch a company without a thesis, or hold a thesis without watchlisting it; they're independent. Are Research Notes and Investment Theses different? Yes -- a Research Note is a short, free-text note with no structure; an Investment Thesis is a structured record with a title, reasons, risks, invalidation conditions, evidence links, and a review history. Use whichever fits what you're recording -- both can exist for the same company. Can I have more than one active thesis for the same company? No -- one active thesis per company at a time, so your research record stays a single source of truth; archive the current one first if you want to start fresh. Are theses private? Yes -- protected the same way your Research Notes are, visible only to you.

Is this investment advice? No -- this is a research-organization feature, not a recommendation of any kind. If you archive a thesis by mistake, it isn't deleted -- archived theses are preserved and can be restored (from the company page or from My Research's Archived theses link), as long as you don't already have another active thesis for that company.
